Like many of you, one thing I wanted to focus on in 2018 was my fitness. And I am proud to say that I have stuck with it! Of course, it is NEVER to late to begin your own fitness journey, and you definitely do not need to wait for a new year to get started!
Now, we all have our own fitness goals. Some of us, to lose weight, others to gain weight, or maybe tone up. Maybe you want to run a marathon! Whatever your goal is, I believe I have a few tips and products that may help you along the way!
Now a little background about myself: I used to run cross-country and track, so I have a slight history of working out. However, it was so different from how I workout today! In high school, I had 30 other girls to back me up. So the first thing I recommend is getting a workout buddy! I am so lucky to have my sister as mine. We hold each other accountable and push each other every day. If you can not find someone to workout with, join a fitness class or program!
The second thing I found very helpful was signing up for a gym membership. And let me tell you, it took a lot of courage to start going LOL. I definitely felt intimidated and lost my first couple weeks, but I am now much more comfortable and confident! If you are nervous about going, just give it a shot! Nobody really cares what you are doing and everyone is there for the same reason: to get fit. Everyone starts somewhere!
Going to the gym definitely made a huge difference in my progress! Personally, I am trying to gain muscle and lifting gave me better results than cardio alone. But lifting is also great for weight loss.
In addition to going to the gym, I used a few helpful products (listed below with direct links).
Ankle weights and resistance bands make at home workouts so much more challenging! I actually bring them to the gym on leg day as well. They are pretty affordable too (a definite bonus!).
Another great product is my workout gloves! If you plan to lift weights or using the squat bar, I highly recommend getting a pair. I originally did not use them and began to notice my hands getting rougher. I now wear them everyday in order to prevent calluses.
Post workout, I have a protein drink. I am currently using Birthday Cake by Dymatize ISO. Not gonna lie…protein does not taste the greatest, but I have seen results from taking it!
Finally, I recommend the FitBit Alta HR. It has so many awesome features and is slim! It monitors your heart rate, tracks steps, calories, sleep patterns, and active minutes. The App has so many cool features too such as a water intake tracker and calorie counter. You even have the option to connect it to your phone to notify you of text messages or calls. If you do not like the traditional rubber bands (or want to dress it up), I included the metal champagne band I got for $12 on Amazon.
I have included links for those of you interested in the products! I hope you enjoyed this post and found it to be helpful.
Have an amazing, productive day 🙂
