HAPPY MONDAY! In celebration of the fresh start to the week, I thought I should share with you some of my tips for better time management.
I bet you have a lot going on in your life! Trying to juggle 10 things at once, right? I can totally relate! Naturally, I am a hard core procrastinator. Here are some of the things that have helped me stay organized and get my life together…
1) Write lists…and lists for those lists! LOL
I know people who are incredibly overwhelmed, yet refuse to write out lists! If this is you, just GIVE IT A SHOT! Writing your thoughts down ensures you won’t forget anything and makes it way easier to plan and sort your day. Plus, it’s almost therapeutic to cross off a task once you completed it. It is definitely a feeling of accomplishment 🙂
2) Prioritize and set deadlines (create a system that works for you!)
Personally, I like to get the little tasks out of the way first. It’s a great way to make your “to do” list look smaller in no time (which instantly makes me feel less stressed!). Then I will be sure to give all my attention and focus on tasks that are time sensitive (leaving less important tasks for possible spare time).
3) Tidy up your work space
This is a big one! It may seem silly to some people, but if you take 10 minutes before you get to work to clean up and organize your work area, it will make the greatest difference. Having a clean environment helps clear your mind and makes it easier to stay focused!
4) Utilize organizational apps
I highly prefer pen and paper! But if you are more tech savvy, a few apps I suggest for managing your time are: Notes, BeFocused, and Trello. These are great for writing lists and dedicating a specific amount of time for each task. You can create a list and set timers to each “to do”.
5) Give yourself breaks and little incentives
Having something to look forward to is a great way to keep yourself motivated and on track (therefore making the best out of your time!). It is always a good idea to take a little break or reward yourself. For example, in this very moment, I have decided that I will take a tea break once I finish this post. That definitely helps me power through…but takes self discipline as well!
6) Create a routine (and stick to it!)
Adding structure to your day is a great way to be proactive! It makes building productive habits easier, too.
Planners are a great way to incorporate all these tips and fit everything nicely into your schedule! However, I know they can be expensive!
I have linked a few cute planner options, or else you can always sign up for my emails to receive a FREE pdf version of the planner I have created for myself 🙂
